Getting In Shape After The Holidays

obese adult nc weight studyI have to admit, I have not been doing good with eating healthy and exercising.  The holiday season was difficult.  I was busy taking care of sick kids.  I had no time to exercise.  I didn’t care about what I was eating.  I just grabbed what was easy, and ate.

How has this affected me?  Well, I’ve put on at least 5 pounds.  Maybe 10.  I feel tired all of the time, yet can’t sleep at night.  I’m feeling depressed.  There is a lot going on in my family.  My son is going to have surgery on his left ear.  He has a large cyst that needs to be removed.  This is going to be a lot more serious than the little cyst that was removed from my daughter’s left ear.  I’m worried about the hearing loss that the doctor said will occur.  I’m also worried about other complications that might occur.  It all depends on what happens when he’s in surgery.

I need to start taking care of myself.  I need to be emotionally strong, and physically healthy.  I need to start eating healthy, and exercising regularly.  Easier said than done.  It’s so cold outside, I don’t want to  go out and exercise.  I am having trouble getting motivated indoors.  I have exercise routines I can do, inside, but am having trouble actually doing them.  I just nee to get up and get moving.

I need to start making better decisions about what I am eating.  I don’t need to go back on a diet.  I just need to eat healthy.  I don’t want to gain all the weight I have lost.  I’m still having trouble with my cholesterol.  Eating healthy needs to be a top priority.

My biggest problem is that I use food for comfort.  When I’m worried, upset, sad, or depressed, I turn to food.  I need to stop.  I need to focus on eating only as needed, and eating only healthy items.  I know I can do it.  Losing over 80 pounds proves that.  I just need to get back to the basics.  I need to take it one day at a time, and one meal at a time.

What do you do to get yourself motivated to exercise and eat healthy?
